Hey, There

I’m Sonya!

I help with employees’ learning experience as I assist you with developing a learning culture and equitable learning plan

What Is SSCS?

Sonya Shearer Consulting Services (SSCS)

SSCS is based on a foundation of learning culture that values and encourages growth.

A learning culture is a byproduct of a workforce culture, the deeply ingrained identity of the company and a silent code of conduct. In essence, it’s the subtle “glue that holds everything together”, what motivates your employees, and what drives their actions.

Developing a culture that drives and supports learning shows your company is interested in providing the resources necessary to support employee learning and development. Supporting a culture of learning helps you capitalize on both the potential of your employees, but also helping in the growth of your company.

At SSCS, I can help you develop personalized and specific learning plans that will engage your employees in the process of learning. By setting learning goals and developing strategic plans, employees are better engaged in learning and development. It’s not about finishing a course but more about helping your employees reach their career goals.

One-on-one career goal coaching can help nurture self-directed learning in the right direction, increase accountability, and provide rewards for all. Companies that have a strong learning culture attract top performers and those individuals with a growth mindset.

My heart is full every time I get a call from one of my former students with an update on their life, post training.

Sonya Shearer

Professing to having been in the right place at the right time, Sonya states, “I have been fortunate in my career to be in the position to help nurture talent as well as help people develop and grow professionally.” Careers in healthcare marketing and education, followed by an extensive career in code enforcement, inspectional services, and municipal government have led Sonya to this path.

Equipped with a Masters Degree in Education, a Bachelors Degree in Criminal Justice Administration, and a variety of training and leadership certifications from companies such as Wiley DiSC, NRCA, NCCER, and Gallup, Sonya has a wide variety of training experience to meet your developmental needs.

There are many paths to great leadership. My goal is to help you find the right one that works for you.

In the hustle of professional goals and personal responsibilities, finding balance isn't about perfection —it's about intention.

For Sonya, that means nurturing her passion for creativity with moments behind her camera, getting lost in a great book, exploring new places, and keeping up with her three energetic grandsons (no small feat!). Sonya continues to give back to her community with involvement with the Lewy Body Association, The Parkinsons Foundation, and mentoring caregivers in various support groups.

Balance looks different for everyone, but the key is prioritizing what truly matters. Make time for the work that fulfills you, the passions that inspire you, and the people who bring you joy.

My Journey

The 70’s

A born and raised California girl, Sonya grew up "knee deep" in the ranch lifestyle raising a variety of farm critters and riding horses from sun up to sun down. Ranch life taught her to think out the big picture as well as focus on the moment.

The 80’s

As an avid participant in a variety of community organizations, Girl Scouts and Future Farmers of America (FFA) to name a few, FFA specifically taught her the foundation of growth leadership and development of unique interests; in essence, the ideology of planting and harvesting.

2000’s

With four children grown and off on their individual paths, Sonya was ready to tackle her career. With a Bachelor’s in Criminal Justice and later a Master’s in Education, she built a reputation for excellence in compliance, public safety, and community development. Over two decades, she honed her expertise through hands-on fieldwork, policy implementation, and high-impact decision-making in local government.

2003

Sonya’s passion for mentorship and professional development took center stage. She became a recognized educator, trainer, and facilitator, developing apprenticeship programs, career pipelines, and leadership training for municipal employees and inspectors. Her ability to blend real-world experience with structured learning positioned her as a subject-matter expert in leadership development, team building, and communication.
